Demystifying the Admission Process in IB Schools – A Step by Step Guide to School Admission

For parents, school admission may seem daunting since they are worried about their child’s future and career. Despite the fact that every child is different and unique, the admissions process in many schools is not flexible or accommodating, resulting in discomfort for the students.

Fortunately, the process of admission in IB schools is more streamlined.

While the specific process may vary slightly depending on the school’s policies and procedures, it’s important to remember that some schools organize an interaction with parents via sessions to understand the parents’ expectations, discuss the school’s philosophy, and address any concerns or queries they may have.

Here is a general overview of the steps involved in the school admission process:

Research and information gathering:

Parents should start by researching about the school and obtain all the necessary information. This includes gathering details about the school’s curriculum, facilities, extracurricular activities, admission requirements, and any specific criteria or procedures.

Application Form:

Parents need to obtain the school’s application form, either online or through the school’s admissions office. They should carefully fill out the form, providing accurate and complete information about their child.

Submission of Application:

Once the application form is completed, parents must submit it to the admissions office within the specified deadline. Some schools may require additional documents to be submitted along with the application form, such as birth certificates, previous school records, recommendation letters, photographs etc.

Entrance Examination/Assessment:

The school may conduct an entrance examination or assessment to evaluate the student’s academic abilities, skills, and aptitude. This may include tests in subjects like English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. The purpose of these assessments is to determine the student’s eligibility and suitability for admission.

Interview:

The shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview, either with the admissions panel or the school principal. The interview provides an opportunity for the school to assess the student’s communication skills, personality, and overall fit within the school’s environment.

Admission Decision:

After considering the application, examination results, interview performance, and other relevant factors, the admissions committee will make a decision regarding the student’s nursery admission or till 12th. The decision is usually communicated to the parents through a formal letter or email.

Fee Payment and Enrolment:

If the student is selected, parents will need to complete the enrolment process by paying the required admission fees, security deposit, and any other applicable fees within the specified timeframe. This confirms the student’s seat at the school.

It is important for parents to note that the specific steps and requirements may vary between schools and academic years. Therefore, it is advisable to refer to a school’s official website or contact their admissions office directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the admission process. In case of Genesis Global School here are the admission processes:

If the Admission’s Office or Principal feel unsatisfied by either or both submissions, the school has the right to put the Application on hold, till the candidate is available for an interaction/entrance test.

Post-admission Procedures:

Once admission is granted, parents are required to deposit the fees and submit the

School uniforms and books can be bought from the uniform store and the book store in the school. The requisite lists are available in the stores. The Admission’s Office then informs the concerned departments about the new admission and assigns the Date of Joining to the student.

An Orientation session will be held on the 1st day of the new session for parents and students. New students will be allotted the section on the day of joining. The time table for your ward will be handed over by the class mentor on the same day. Mentors assist new students with the syllabi covered in the class till date, with parental support.
